Morocco’s National Agency for Water and Forests has warned of an extreme wildfire risk in several northern provinces. High temperatures, dry vegetation and strong winds could contribute to the rapid outbreak and spread of forest fires.
Authorities are calling on residents, visitors and agricultural workers to exercise particular caution near forests. Carelessly discarded cigarettes, uncontrolled fires and other negligent behaviour can have serious human and environmental consequences.
Prevention remains essential to protecting local communities, natural ecosystems and wildlife. Quickly reporting smoke, flames or suspicious activity can help emergency services intervene before a fire becomes uncontrollable.
